Paris mon amour

Friday, September 02, 2016

Even after 5 times visiting Paris I just can't stop loving it! It's one of the bravest most romantic cities in the world, full of secrets and intimacy. It's like a patchwork of little villages, that combined shape an empowering gorgeous city.

We took the Eurostar from London (St. Pancras International) to Paris and in just 2h30 we were at the Gare du Nord. Our hotel was near the area but it wasn't that great. Very noisy during the night especially because of the Euro 2016.

Yes, I used to love snapchat... Luis not so much.

Instead of giving you the same boring pictures you can already check on google, I've put together some of my favourite ones from snapchat.

Our first day in Paris was very tiring. We arrived at the Gare du Nord after lunch time and quickly left our bags at the hotel. We took the underground to La Assemblée Nationale and started our journey from there.

You can find so many treasures by the Seine, like old pieces of vinyl and magasines, people drawing portraits or painting the landscape, boat-houses, little cute coffee shops, etc. It's true, there's also a lot of people living in the streets and my heart stops when I see them, it's so unfair that some have so much and others just don't have anything...

We stopped by the Louvre to take some photographs and proceeded our journey towards Les Tuileries until the Eiffel Tour, where we ended up having dinner. What an amazing day!

The best part of going to Paris for me is definitely Disneyland. Can't tell you guys how much I love this place! I have been there every time I went to Paris, but this time was even more special because we had time to visit the Studios as well.

We took the train from Nation to Marne-la-Vallée (red line, direction east) and in less than 1 hour we were in Disneyland.

The last day was spent wandering around Île de la Cité, Le Jardin du Luxembourg and St German. The garden is such a beauty, almost like a miniature of Versailles.

We still had time to go to Montmartre and see La Basilique du Sacré Cœur (obviously we were lazy and took the elevator) and the artists. Later we stopped by Pigalle to take some photographs of the Moulin Rouge.

I found Princess Leia, C-3PO and Chewbacca in St German des Prés, alongside with "pintes" for €5. Not a very good price, though, London can do it better!

Instead of going to the Louvre again we decided to visit the Georges Pompidou Centre, a complex building in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, near Les Halles, rue Montorgueil and the Marais. This museum is itself a work of art and gives you a perfect view over Paris when you reach the last floor! We found inside le marvelous paintings of Paul Klee, Picasso, Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian and so many others.

Before returning to London we had to stop at Richart, the best gourmet chocolaterie in Paris. They not only have the greatest chocolates but gorgeously tasty macarons. It's a crime not to stop at this shop!

With love,
