New York Fashion Week SEP 2013 // Best of DAY 4

Day 4: I really loved the triangles in Victoria Beckham's collection, the typography in DKNY, Edun's geometric prints, Delpozo and Zac Posen's evening dresses.

3.1 Phillip Lim chose Barracuda (Heart - 1977) for its collection. A great sound in order to show us a contemporaneous collection with "wave motifs on the bottom of boxy tops, while fire appeared in the flickery edges of moire leopard print." Soft colours and a great sense of fashion. fashionologie

Zac Posen showed us Coco Rocha in a  beautiful hand-plisséd silk chiffon dress. "With pale florals and ethereal fabrics, Posen - who, according to show notes, sought to evoke a modern-day Sarah Bernhardt - provided the requisite romanticism we've come to expect. (The shoes, all Manolo Blahnik, didn't hurt his cause.)" fashionologie

von Furstenberg showed us prints - "bright Aztec blues and chili pepper reds, animal prints, and a new iteration of the wrap dress that's crafted with lace insets." Full skirts, maxi and short dresses, golden shorts and and illustration. fashionologie

Thakoon Panichgul showed us short skirts and dresses in black, white, pearl, beje, gold, silver and reds. "This collection, like so many we've seen this week, reinterpreted ladylike staples. More than one editor voiced their love for the strings of pearls used as the straps on evening clutches, and crystals were smartly applied to collars, waistlines, and hems throughout the collection." fashionologie

"It's DKNY's 25th anniversary, but the brand is looking fresher than ever. With "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" playing, models hit the runway in overalls, baseball caps, anoraks, and sneakers - definitely a nod to the brand's more urban look in its genesis era. A sports influence continued into neoprene skater dresses with sexy cutout backs, while evening offered up a new version of the "naked dress," bias gowns with sheer straps that seemed to hover on the body." fashionologie

Victoria Beckham showed us a simple geometric collection inspired in sports, especially tennis - miniskirts and sheer warm-up jackets. "With a clean palette of black, white, and gray with pops of fuchsia and maroon, the collection relied on textural touches like collaged tops, sheer geometric inserts, and tonal cream on white. Beckham also hooked into one of the season's early favorites, the slouchy culotte, here paired with sleeveless tuxedo vests. As if the iced green tea served elegantly at the door wasn't enough to wake up sleepy Sunday morning showgoers, the sight of a dapper David Beckham with daughter Harper watching attentively on his lap surely did. But the careful detailing in the clothes was the true scene-stealer." fashionologie
